Departments Structure & Objectives

APICORP's departmental structure is built around Eight Departments, namely: Projects, Project & Trade Finance, Treasury & Capital Markets, Legal, Financial Control, Administration, Information Systems and Economic & Research. All Departments contribute to the Corporation’s business activity that is derived from the following objectives:

  • Evaluation, appraisal and financing of new projects;
  • Raising of financial resources on the capital markets and managing the treasury of the corporation;
  • Assessment and management of the risks entailed by the Corporation’s dealing and operations;
  • Carrying out of the necessary economic or research studies on the Corporation business environment and trends.

Working in multidisciplinary teams, we prepare for deliberation and implement the decisions of the Corporation's top management.

Management Structure

Chief Executive and General Manager

Ahmad Bin Hamad Al-Nuaimi

 Chief Executive and General Manager

Mr. Al-Nuaimi was appointed Chief Executive and General Manager of APICORP in 2005. Prior to this assignment, Mr. Al-Nuaimi assumed senior positions at the Ministry of Finance, Economy and Trade of the State of Qatar, including that of Economic Advisor to the Higher Council for Economic Affairs. In addition, Mr. Al-Nuaimi represented the State of Qatar in the Boards of Directors of several regional and international financial institutions, including the Islamic Development Bank and APICORP.

Deputy General Manager

Nabeel Ali Al-Adsani

Mr. Al-Adsani was appointed Deputy General Manager of APICORP in October 2009.  Prior to this assignment, Mr. Al-Adsani was Executive Manager at Independent Petroleum Group s.a.k. (IPG) in Kuwait, a private sector oil trading and logistics company listed on the Kuwaiti Stock Exchange. At IPG, Mr. Al Adsani assisted in the implementation of the company’s midstream oil logistics investments in the Middle East and Africa, and represented the company as a member of the board of directors in two of the company’s international ventures. Prior to IPG, Mr. Al Adsani held corporate positions in telecommunications and silicon chip companies in the United States. Mr. Al-Adsani obtained a Juris Doctor degree from the School of Law at the University of Miami in Florida, USA. (1997).  Mr. Al Adsani also obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations from the School of International Service at the American University in Washington, D.C., USA. (1990).

Senior Executives

Abdulaziz S. Alidi
Executive Vice President, Projects Department

Dr. Alidi joined APICORP in September 1998. Prior to that, he pursued an academic career at King Fahad University of Petroleum and Minerals that ended up with the rank of full professor. He undertook special assignments as industrial researcher and consultant to a number of industrial and finance companies in the Arab Gulf region such as Saudi ARAMCO, Chiyoda Chemical Engineering and Construction Company (Japan), SABIC, and United Gulf Industrialization Company (Bahrain). Dr. Alidi has a degree in B.Sc., Chemical Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, a M.Sc., in Engineering Management from the University of Detroit, and a Ph.D., in Engineering Management from Tulane University of Louisiana (1985). He conducted post-doctoral research at the University of Newcastle-upon Tyne (UK), Herriot-Watt University (UK), and Portland State University (USA). Dr. Alidi is a Fulbright fellow and a member of the Institute of Operations Research and Management Sciences and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. He is also a member of all APICORP’s Executive Committees.

Nicolas Thévenot
Executive Vice President, Project &Trade Finance Department

Mr. Thévenot joined APICORP in May 2000 as head of the business group for North Africa and the Mediterranean basin in the Department that handles the project finance, financial advisory and trade finance activities of the Corporation (“Project and Trade Finance Department” or “P&TF”). In October 2004, he was appointed head of P&TF and has since then co-ordinated the financing and advisory assignments in which APICORP has been instrumental all over the Arab region. At APICORP, Nicolas is a member of the Credit and Investment Committee that reviews and approves the loan financings as well as the direct investments of the Corporation, as well as a member of the Executive Management Committee, of the Risk Management Committee and of the Assets and Liabilities Committee. Nicolas Thévenot is a graduate of l’Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris, where he has obtained an MBA (1986) as well a graduate degree in International Economics, “DEA” (1988).

Hesham Farid
Acting Executive Vice President, Treasury & Capital Markets Department

Mr. Hesham Farid joined APICORP in February 1996. He was promoted as Acting Executive Vice President - Treasury & Capital Markets Department in March 2009. Prior to that, he held other senior positions in the company as Senior Vice President - Capital Markets and as Portfolio Manager - Fixed Income in the Treasury & Capital Markets Department. Mr. Hesham Farid holds and MBA Degree and a BA Degree in Business Admimistration from The American University in Cairo (AUC). Prior to joining APICORP, Mr. Hesham Farid had a successful career for almost 12 years in the areas of Treasury & Capital Markets and in Credit, at Arab International Bank, Cairo holding the position of Head of Fixed-Income Proprietary Investments, Treasury & Capital Markets Division, and earlier, he was employed with Misr Iran Development Bank, Credit Division.

Ayman Zeyada
Head, Financial Control Department

Mr. Ayman Zeyada joined APICORP in 1994. He presently holds the position of Head of Financial Control. He has two postgraduate Diplomas from the College of Professional Management (CPM), Jersey, Britain and he is a member in the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), USA. Prior to joining APICORP, Mr. Zeyada was Financial Manager in Petroleum Investments Company (PICO), Egypt and Chief Accountant in Banawai Industrial Group (BIG), Saudi Arabia.

Ali Fadel (LL.B, LL.M)
Head of Legal and Compliance

Mr. Ali Fadel joined APICORP in 2005. He presently holds the position of Head, Legal and Compliance. Mr. Fadel is also a qualified solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales, a Certified Compliance Officer and a member of the American Academy of Financial Management. Before joining APICORP, Mr. Fadel practiced as an advocate in Sudan, and re-qualified and practiced as a solicitor in London.

Emad Fodah
Head, Administration and Human Resources Department

Mr. Fodah joined APICORP on 08 May 2010. He brings with him over 27 years of professional experience. He has been with several top firms, such as Al Jazira Bank, Arabia Cement Company, and Arabian International Company for Steel Structures (AICSS). where he spearheaded some of the most challenging culture change initiatives in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Paramount to Mr. Fodah’s operating style is his ability to work with Senior Executive team to mesh the over-arching vision of the organization to an actionable Human Resource strategies that are effectively communicated to the staff. His extensive specialized knowledge has allowed him to orchestrate complicated culture change initiatives while delivering significant impact for organizations and its staff. He is a critical factor in mobilizing people and vital in driving an organization to follow new direction.

Mohamed El Khouly
Head, Information Systems Department

Mr. Mohammed Khouly joined APICORP in 1989 and has been appointed as head of IT department in June 2007. On the academic front, Mohammed received his MBA in finance and management information systems from KFUPM, Saudi Arabia, and  his B.Sc. in computer engineering  from Ain Shams University, Egypt in1988. Mohammed's career covers software development, databases, IT security, and the implementation of large-scale banking and financial applications. Mohammed is also a member of institute of electrical and electronics engineers (IEEE) and Object Management Group (OMG).

Ali Aissaoui
Senior Consultant

Ali Aissaoui serves as Senior Consultant to APICORP ‎where he previously held the position of Head, Economics & Research. Prior to joining APICORP, he ‎was Senior Research ‎Fellow at the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies. He was formerly ‎advisor to the Algerian government on energy policy issues and, in this capacity, ‎member/chairman of the OPEC Board of Governors.

Najwa Al Tunisi
Head, Global Marketing & Project Coordination

Mrs. Al-Tunisi joined APICORP in 2007 with an over 20 years experience in international investment banking in London. She held various positions among which Manager of Investment Division, Manager of Investment Development and Manager of Private Banking. Her experience includes the development of Investment Products, Portfolio Management and Fund Management. She possesses a (BS and MS) in Mathematics and Stochastic Process From Portland State University ,Oregon ,USA.

Suresh Mergu
Senior Vice President, Risk Management Unit

Mr. Mergu joined APICORP in 2008. He completed his MBA-Finance program from Dr. BRAOU, Hyderabad, India. He is a CAIIB, CCEM, PGDCA, and a Certified Credit Risk Specialist. Mr. Mergu has more than two decades of cross functional banking experience in Corporate Credit, Risk Management, Trade Finance, and Branch Management with excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills supported by proven abilities in team management, customer relationship management, and relevant qualifications in multiple disciplines.

Mohammed H. Al Mubarak
Senior Manager, Financial Operations Department

Mr. Al Mubarak joined APICORP in September 1998. He was appointed to head the Financial Operations Department as Senior Manager in June 2010. Prior to joining APICORP, Mr. Al Mubarak worked with Banque Saudi Fransi as Assistant Manager in the Treasury Operations Department. Within the same bank, he was also assigned the position Head of Nostro Cash Management Unit. Mr. Mohammed Al Mubarak holds an MBA degree from University of Bahrain, Bahrain and a B.Sc. in Management from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), Saudi Arabia.
